The full-day programme is divided into three themed panels, featuring prominent researchers from fields, such as medicine, criminology, neuroscience and religious studies. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with the speakers via Q&A sessions. Additionally, the panels will be interspersed with two yoga practice sessions led by senior BWY teachers within the auditorium. Here are a few of the speakers: Prof. Ulrich Pagel, the convenor of the SOAS MA Traditions of Yoga and Mediation, will host the event as Chair of SOAS Centre of Yoga Studies. Dr Tina Cartwright, Reader at the University of Westminster, will moderate the day?s proceedings. Her research focuses on the impact of yoga on health and wellbeing in educational, workplace, and NHS settings. Prof. Rosie Meek of Royal Holloway University of London will discuss her most recent project as lead on a multi-disciplinary study of the use of yoga and meditation in prisons, undertaken for the UK Ministry of Justice. Prof. Sat Bir Singh Khalsa, Associate Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School, medical editor of the Harvard Medical School Special Report Introduction to Yoga, and chief editor of the medical textbook The Principles and Practice of Yoga in Health Care, will consider the integration of yoga and yoga therapy within the medical field, specifically the evaluation of yoga for insomnia, chronic stress, and anxiety-related disorders in workplace and public school settings.
